REVIEW : Bumbu Babah Nasi Padang in Sepang with Spicy Ayam Habuk & Gulai Urat

Craving authentic Nasi Padang in Sepang? Bumbu Babah at Kota Warisan’s Suria Industrial Park is the place to be! Famous for its hearty portions and bold flavors, this restaurant is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy traditional Indonesian dishes with a spicy kick.

During my visit, I savored the Ayam Habuk and Gulai Urat. The portions are generous, so it’s definitely a filling meal. The spiciness is just right for those who enjoy a bit of heat, enhancing the rich flavors of each dish.

Bumbu Babah offers a wide variety of menu options and set combos, making it easy to sample multiple flavors in one meal. From tender meats to flavorful curries, each dish reflects the authentic taste of Nasi Padang.

For walk-ins, the service is okay, but if you take away, it can be slow. On my takeaway order, I was even given the wrong set! Thankfully, I checked my order before heading home—otherwise, it would have been a disappointing surprise.

The price is quite affordable, making it a great option for a satisfying and budget-friendly meal in Sepang.

Despite the minor service hiccups, if you love spicy, flavorful dishes with generous portions and variety, Bumbu Babah Kota Warisan is definitely worth a visit—just double-check your takeaway orders!

RESEPI 96 : Ikan Talang Masin Kicap Manis – Perfect Sahur Dish for Ramadhan πŸŒ™

During Ramadhan, sahur meals need to be simple, satisfying, and filling to keep you energised throughout the day. One of my favourite dishes for this is Ikan Talang Masin Kicap Manis — sweet soy braised salted talang fish.

It’s humble, easy to cook, and full of flavour. The salted fish gives a natural savoury punch, while the sweet soy sauce (kicap manis) adds a rich, comforting taste. Best part? You can prepare it ahead and reheat for sahur.

🐟 Ingredients

Salted ikan talang (cut into pieces)

Onion – sliced

Garlic – chopped

Cili kering (dried chillies) – softened in warm water and cut

Sweet soy sauce (kicap manis)

Light soy sauce

Sugar (depending on sweetness)

Water

Cooking oil

🍳 Simple Cooking Steps

1. Fry the Fish . Lightly fry the salted ikan talang until slightly golden. Set aside.

2. Soften the Cili Kering .Soak the dried chillies in warm water until soft, then cut into smaller pieces.

3. In the same pan, sautΓ© garlic, onion, and softened cili kering until fragrant.

4. Pour in sweet soy sauce, a splash of light soy sauce, and a little water. Let it simmer.

5. Add a bit of sugar if you prefer it slightly sweeter.

6. Add Fish Back In . Return the fried ikan talang into the pan.

7. Cook until the sauce thickens and coats the fish nicely.

Serve hot with steamed white rice. A few cucumber slices or simple ulam on the side make it even better.

This dish is comforting, flavourful, and keeps you satisfied during sahur — exactly what you need before a day of fasting.

Ikan Talang Masin Kicap Manis is a humble kampung-style dish that shines during Ramadhan. Easy to cook, full of bold flavours, and perfect for early mornings, it’s a reminder that simple meals often bring the most comfort.

REVIEW : Worth the Wait? My Honest Food Review of MODU TRX – Samgyetang Specialty Korean Restaurant

Let’s talk about patience, hunger, and really good Korean soup.

I recently braved a 2-hour wait at MODU TRX – Samgyetang Specialty Korean Restaurant. Yes, two hours. Was I hangry? Absolutely. Did it pay off? Mostly.

The Queue Is Real πŸ˜…

If you’re planning to visit, here’s the truth: come early, bring a friend, or prepare for a long wait. Watching people shuffle in and out while your stomach growls is a test of character — or maybe just bad timing.

What I Ate

🍲 Spicy Herbal Samgyetang

Portion size: enough for two hungry humans

Taste: herbal, comforting, with a spicy kick that hits just right

Verdict: soup lovers, this is your dream bowl. Seriously, you’ll savor every drop.

πŸ₯¬ Minari Pancake

Texture: crispy outside, soft inside

Taste: flavorful but a bit too salty for me

Verdict: still worth a try, but maybe sip the soup first to balance it out

The Price πŸ’Έ

Yes, it’s pricey. This is not your everyday lunch spot — think of it as a treat-yourself moment. Worth it if you love Korean cuisine, maybe less so if you’re counting every ringgit.

πŸ† Verdict: Is MODU TRX Worth It?

Yes… if: You love hearty, spicy, herbal soups, enjoy Korean flavors, and don’t mind waiting. The Spicy Herbal Samgyetang is comfort in a bowl and generously portioned enough for two.

No… if: You’re short on patience, not a soup fan, or sensitive to salty side dishes. The Minari Pancake might be too salty, and the 2-hour wait plus pricey menu can feel heavy on the wallet.

Bottom line: MODU TRX delivers on flavor and experience, but it’s an occasional treat, not an everyday stop. Bring patience, bring a friend, and savor every drop — the hype is mostly real.

Have you tried MODU TRX yet? How long did you wait, and did it live up to the hype? Drop your story in the comments — let’s see if the 2-hour wait club is worth it! 🍲

REVIEW : LèTen Chinese Muslim Restaurant at Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA

Whenever I’m around Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA, there’s one place I now consider my go-to food stop — Din Tai Fung, located at:

πŸ“ F-60A, Mitsui Outlet Park, KLIA πŸ“ž 03-8660 2388

What started as a casual meal turned into one of the most satisfying food experiences I’ve had near the airport.

⭐ Golden Custard Bun — My All-Time Favourite

I can never say no to this.

The Golden Custard Bun came out warm and soft, and the moment I opened it — that rich, molten custard flowed out beautifully. Creamy, smooth, slightly sweet, and incredibly comforting.

It’s indulgent without being too heavy.

This remains my forever favourite.

πŸ”₯ Wok Fried Carrot Cake — So Damn Delicious

Next came the Wok Fried Carrot Cake, and this dish delivered serious flavour.

You get that unmistakable wok hei aroma — smoky, slightly crispy on the outside yet soft inside. Every bite was well-balanced and not overly oily.

Simple dish, but done exceptionally well.

So. Damn. Delicious.

🦐 Steamed Rice Roll with Fresh Prawn Filling — My Top Pick

And then came the highlight of the meal.

The Steamed Rice Roll with Fresh Prawn Filling was silky smooth and wrapped around juicy, fresh prawns. Lightly drenched in savoury sauce, the texture was delicate yet satisfying.

Soft rice roll + fresh prawn = perfection.

This is officially my top favourite from the meal.

Verdict 🍽️

Dining here was absolutely worth it.

Each dish brought something special — comfort, flavour, and quality you wouldn’t always expect from an airport-side dining spot.

My personal ranking:

πŸ₯‡ Steamed Rice Roll with Fresh Prawn Filling

πŸ₯ˆ Golden Custard Bun

πŸ₯‰ Wok Fried Carrot Cake

⭐ Overall Rating: 9/10

Definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to whenever I’m around KLIA ✨

REVIEW : A Taste of Local Comfort at Grandmama's in Gateway@KLIA2 (Terminal 2)

Located at Lot No. L2-75 & 76, Level 2 of Gateway@KLIA2 mall, Grandmama’s offers authentic Malaysian cuisine in a cozy, traditional setting. It’s a comfortable spot to enjoy familiar local dishes without breaking the bank.

What I Tried

🍜 Mee Curry

The mee curry was definitely the highlight. The gravy was rich, creamy and flavourful — comforting and satisfying with a nice home-style taste. The noodles worked well with the broth, making it a warm and enjoyable dish overall.

🍧 Cendol

The cendol was refreshing, but not really my favourite. It tasted quite mild and lacked the strong gula melaka flavour that usually makes cendol memorable. It was decent, but not something I would specifically recommend.

Atmosphere, Service & Value

The restaurant has a pleasant traditional ambiance that reflects classic Malaysian dining — simple and cozy.

Service was also a plus point. The waitress was friendly and welcoming, which made the dining experience more enjoyable.

Another highlight is the pricing. The food is affordable, especially considering it’s located in an airport — making it good value for money.

Verdict ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4.0 / 5)

✔️ Mee curry — comforting and worth trying

✔️ Friendly service

✔️ Affordable pricing for an airport

✔️ Cozy local dining feel

❌ Cendol — average

Overall, Grandmama’s is a nice place for Malaysian comfort food at a reasonable price. I would return for the mee curry, and the friendly service makes the experience even better.
