REVIEW : A Taste of Local Comfort at Grandmama's in Gateway@KLIA2 (Terminal 2)

Located at Lot No. L2-75 & 76, Level 2 of Gateway@KLIA2 mall, Grandmama’s offers authentic Malaysian cuisine in a cozy, traditional setting. It’s a comfortable spot to enjoy familiar local dishes without breaking the bank.

What I Tried

🍜 Mee Curry

The mee curry was definitely the highlight. The gravy was rich, creamy and flavourful — comforting and satisfying with a nice home-style taste. The noodles worked well with the broth, making it a warm and enjoyable dish overall.

🍧 Cendol

The cendol was refreshing, but not really my favourite. It tasted quite mild and lacked the strong gula melaka flavour that usually makes cendol memorable. It was decent, but not something I would specifically recommend.

Atmosphere, Service & Value

The restaurant has a pleasant traditional ambiance that reflects classic Malaysian dining — simple and cozy.

Service was also a plus point. The waitress was friendly and welcoming, which made the dining experience more enjoyable.

Another highlight is the pricing. The food is affordable, especially considering it’s located in an airport — making it good value for money.

Verdict ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4.0 / 5)

✔️ Mee curry — comforting and worth trying

✔️ Friendly service

✔️ Affordable pricing for an airport

✔️ Cozy local dining feel

❌ Cendol — average

Overall, Grandmama’s is a nice place for Malaysian comfort food at a reasonable price. I would return for the mee curry, and the friendly service makes the experience even better.
